There are a number of ways we can help with your minor sports injuries at The Little Buckingham Clinic. Our holistic team provide a range of therapies that might be able to help.

Our Therapies
- Acupuncture is recognised by the NHS as an effective therapy for chronic pain, migraines, and headaches. It’s also used for muscle and joint pain, which are features of almost all sports injuries.
- Osteopaths are qualified to treat minor sports injuries, including sprains, strains, and joint injuries. They can also help with rehabilitation and management of post-injury swelling.
- We also offer massage as a stand alone treatment, or complemented by our other therapies.
Sports Injuries
Our therapists can help with a range of sports injuries, whether your activity of choice is high impact squash or gentle bowls. Examples of injuries include:
Throwing injuries, such as
- Rotator cuff strains or tears
- Shoulder cartilage injuries
- Pulled muscles in the shoulder or neck

Running or jumping injuries, for example:
- Pain behind the knee cap
- Pulled or strained muscles in the calf, hamstring, or quads
- Meniscus (cartilage) injuries
Other sports injuries, like
- Muscle guarding in the back
- Impact-related foot pain
- Lower back or neck pain from a disc injury
Diagnosing Your Sports Injury
A lot of the injuries above present similarly, and may be difficult to distinguish between. Our osteopath is qualified to diagnose and treat, so you can save yourself a trip to the GP before seeing us.
Diagnosis is based on the combination of:
- your case history:
- how the injury happened
- how it’s progressed
- current features
- physical examination
- features of the area at rest, such as swelling, bruising, or redness
- how the area behaves when you move it actively
- how it responds to passive movement by your osteopath
- special orthopaedic or muscle tests where appropriate
Alongside your diagnosis, from the first appointment you can expect osteopathic treatment, advice, and exercises.
Our Holistic Approach
We know that stress impedes healing, so for a holistic approach to your recovery, you might benefit from reiki or sound therapy. Conditions like sports injuries often respond well to a range of treatments. For example, our osteopath often refers patients on to acupuncture to help stimulate tissue healing or help to relax persistently tight muscles.
